Have you ever wondered why you exist? There are already billions of people roaming the surface of the earth. They breathe and talk just like you. Others who once lived are no more. People are born, and people die every day—it's not news. Why, then, were you born? To add to the number? What difference does it make whether you exist or not?
These questions, though thought-provoking, are very necessary, and your answers to them determine your relevance. The world, as we see it today, is filled with egocentric people—those who carry the "me, myself, and I" mindset. It wouldn't make sense if people were only born to educate themselves, get high-paying jobs, amass wealth, acquire properties, satisfy their desires in every way, and eventually die. Sadly, this is considered normal. If they were to render an account of how they spent their 70, 80, or 90 years on earth, what would they say? That they lived for only themselves? It would be better if they had never existed because it would make no difference.

Not to mention the "survivors." For them, life is all about survival. All they think about is how to maneuver their way through life—securing personal wins and working hard only to ensure they have a comfortable life every time they wake up. They repeat this cycle over and over again until the grave. What account will they give? That they spent their life surviving?
Life is not all about making money. Yes, money is important, but it is not worth living or dying for. All these material things are fleeting and never truly satisfy. To live a well-lived life is to live a life of impact.
You still remember the names of people who died many years ago—perhaps because they fought for the freedom of many, invented something useful to mankind even till today, or were simply a blessing to many lives. Either way, they lived beyond "self." That is the essence of life—where your mere existence becomes a fragrance to people, where you identify a problem and dedicate your life to solving it, all for the comfort of others. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing the smiles you put on people's faces. Even money cannot buy that kind of satisfaction.
As a young person navigating life and trying to find yourself, let this piece of advice stay with you: true fulfillment comes from impacting lives. Strive to make your mark in this world—a mark so deep that it will be difficult to erase. Leave a legacy that will cause your name to be etched upon the templates of time forever. That will be the difference your existence makes. That will be your own fair contribution to the world, ensuring that your life is never wasted.
Believe it or not, your greatness will be determined by your impact.
Look beyond "self," aim for impact, and soar above the ordinary. You were born to make a difference.
